Dr. Abhishek Srivastava’s research group at IC~WiBES Lab, CVEST breaks the barrier! IIITH achieved a significant milestone by successfully designing and fabricating a test chip for the first time in 25 years. The main IC designers are MS students at CVEST — Arpit Sahani, Srayan Sankar Chatterjee, Pranjal Mahajan, Anushka Tripathi, and Deeksha. The process of chip design and tape-out marks a crucial step in transitioning from theoretical designs to a manufacturable product, significantly advancing the institute’s technological capabilities. It’s crucial for bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation, enabling students and researchers to innovate, publish significant findings, and prepare for high-impact careers in the semiconductor industry.

IIIT Hyderabad joins MeitY’s prestigious SMDP chip to startup program in semiconductor domain for the first time since the program started (2005). Project proposal led by Prof. Abhishek Srivastava of CVEST is selected for the prestigious Special Manpower Development Program for Chips to Startup (SMDP C2S) program by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s (MeitY). It is for the first time IIITH has become a part of SMDP in the semiconductor domain since the program started.

Dr. Ashok Kumar Das has been appointed as an Associate Editor for the prestigious flagship journal: IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security.
IEEE T-IFS ranks #2 in the list of top venues (conference & journals) in Computer Security & Cryptography and first (Rank #1) among all journal publications. Its impact factor is 6.8.

IIITH students secured third place for their project on Assessing the Impact of Climate Change on Himalayan Timberline Elevation: Developing a Novel Tool for Analyzing Correlation with Temperature and Precipitation at the first ever Climate and Sustainability Hackathon, hosted by Cloudera in collaboration with AMD. The event was held online from Santa Clara, California. The team members Lokesh Sharma (M.Tech-CSE) and Avantika Latwal (Ph.D-Scholar, Lab for Spatial Informatics), under the supervision of Dr. Rehana Shaik demonstrated outstanding innovation and expertise. The hackathon consisted of an Idea Phase that spanned from 18 October to 27 November 2023 to filter out the ideas. This was followed by a Prototype Submission Phase that occurred online from 29 January to 7 March 2024.
