IIIT, Hyderabad is a nonprofit Research University, founded in 1998, under the Public Private Partnership model, and is the first IIIT to be set up in India.
The mission of IIIT-H is to contribute to transforming industry and society, in India and the world over, by delivering world class research and education, and promoting innovation and human values.
IIIT-H, in the tenth year now, has been ranked top #7 overall, and top #3 on placement, among all technology schools in the country, by Dataquest-IDC's annual survey 2008. In 2007, the institute was ranked top #9 overall, and top #5 on placement.
IIIT-H’s placement 2009 was ranked Top 2, among all technology schools in India, by Mint-Cfore’s Best Engineering Colleges’ Survey 2009, with an average compensation of Rs.6.1 lac, despite the institute being the last in the country to open placement season.
