Admissions Policy

To maintain high level of academic standards and smooth running of the academic session, IIIT Hyderabad completes all admissions before the start of the academic session.

  • IIIT Hyderabad does NOT participate in allotment through JEE (Main) CSAB.
  • All admissions are through IIIT, Hyderabad portals, basing on Marks secured in JEE (Main) exam.

    1. Undergraduate

      • [CSE] - B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)
      • [ECE] - B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering(ECE)
    2. Dual Degree

      • [CSD] - B.Tech and MS by Research in Computer Science and Engineering
      • [ECD] - B.Tech and MS by Research in Electronics and Communication Engineering
      • [BSD] - B.Tech in Civil Engineering and MS by Research in Building Science and Engineering.
    3. Trans-disciplinary Dual Degree

      • [CLD] - B.Tech in CS and MS by Research in Computational Linguistics
      • [CND] - B.Tech in CS and MS by Research in Computational Natural Sciences
  2. Modes of Admission

    There are six modes of admission.
    1. JEE (Main) - Students should take JEE (Main) - 2016, and must separately apply for IIIT admission. The students will be admitted on the basis of the Marks in the JEE (Main) - 2016 examination.

      Programs: CSE, ECE, CSD, ECD, BSD, CND
      Eligibility: Students must take JEE (Main) - 2016 exam.
      Application Process: Apply through portal specific for this mode of admission (Portal will open soon)
      Application Fees: Rs. 1500.
      Selection Process: Based on Marks in JEE (Main) - 2016.
    2. DASA - Students who have foreign passports or have studies abroad are admitted based on their SAT II scores.

      Programs: CSE, ECE, CSD, ECD, BSD, CND
      Eligibility: Applicants should have studied 11th and 12th or equivalent outside India, (or) Must be a foreign passport holder. Further, a minimum of 2000 SAT subject score (Physics+Chemistry+Mathematics II) [earlier known as SAT-II]
      It is recommended that they take AP Calculus course, AP Physics or AP Chemistry course.

      Application Fees: Rs. 6000 / USD 100.
      Selection Process: Based on candidates academic record and SAT score.
    3. CLD  Exam - CLD is a trans disciplinary program.  Admission is through written examination held on 17 April 2016 followed by interview. Result/Interview dates will be announced on website [date will be updated ASAP].

      Program: CLD

      Eligibility :
      Higher Secondary/class XII or equivalent in Science stream with Physics and Mathematics.

      Selection Process: A shortlisted set of applicants in written examination will be called for interview based on their performance in written test. The final selection is based on performance in the interview.
    4. NTSE, KVPY [NK] - Students who have qualified for (i)NTSE, (ii) KVPY. Admission is through written examination held on 17th April 2016 followed by an interview. Results/Interview date will be announced on website [date will be updated ASAP].

      Program:  CND
      Eligibility: Class 12th passed in 2016 and must have qualified for (i) NTSE, (or) (ii) KVPY
      Selection Process: A shortlisted set of applicants in written examination will be called for interview based on their performance in written test. The final selection is based on performance in the interview.

         e. Olympiad -  Students who have been selected for training in Science and Linguistics to represent India in International  
              Olympiads.

               ProgramsCSD, ECD, CND, BSD and CLD 

               Eligibility: Class 12th passed in 2016 and students who have been selected for training in Science and Linguistics to
               represent India in International Olympiads.

               Selection Process:  The applicants under this category will be called for a personal interview at IIIT-Hyderabad.
               Details like date, venue, etc. will be mentioned in the interview call letter. 

         f.  Lateral Entry after second year of students studying B.E./B.Tech elsewhere.

             Eligibility: Applicants who have successfully completed second year of B.E./B.Tech. in Computer Science/IT or
             Electronics & Communications Engineering are eligible to join 4-year dual degree programme in B.Tech & MS by
             research in CSE or B.Tech & MS by research in ECE.

            Selection Process: Based on candidates record and outcome of the entrance exam held on 17 April, 2016 and interview.
            Results/Interview date will be announced on website [date will be updated ASAP].
