Dr Vishnu Sreekumar received the 2026 HPS–IMH Oration Award from Hyderabad Psychiatric Society on 23 August. In his oration, he examined the role of AI and computational cognitive science in psychiatry, separating hype from reality. He also proposed a framework for collaboration among AI researchers, cognitive scientists, engineers, psychiatrists, and patients that moves beyond early detection towards understanding treatment-relevant mechanisms.

Dr Aakansha Natani, Assistant Professor, Human Sciences Research Centre, was awarded the Australia–France Indo-Pacific Visiting Fellowship Studies Grant 2026 by the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia. She will join the University of Queensland, Brisbane, later this year to work on her project, “Data as Public Good: Cross-regional Insights from India and Australia”.
