Dr. Sriram Venkatapathy, ALEXA AI team, Boston gave a talk on Alexa Spoken Language Understanding on 12 July. In his talk, Dr. Venkatapathy gave an overview of Alexa, its features and the technology powering its spoken language understanding component. He also highlight some of the current challenges in the context of Alexa and concluded his talk with a demo.
Dr. Venkatapathy did his B.Tech and Ph.D from IIIT-H. He pursued his Ph.D under the research exchange programme with University of Pennsylvania. He briefly joined IIIT-H as Assistant Professor before joining Xerox Research in France. He then worked at Amazon in Bengaluru in the core Machine Learning team as a Machine Learning Scientist.
