Prof. Shatrunjay Rawat to Serve on Planning Commission's Working Group

Prof. Shatrunjay Rawat, Systems Associate Professor, IIIT-H has been nominated by the Government of India's (GoI's) Planning Commission (PC) as a member on the Working Group for Department of Posts for Twelfth Five Year Plan (2012-17).

The high powered working group will deliberate and recommend on policy matters to aid the formulation of the Twelfth Five Year Plan for the Communications, Information Technology, and Information (CIT&I) sector. Attached is the nomination letter of the Planning Commission.

Prof. Shatrunjay has been associated with the Department of Posts (DoP), as a member on several of its key advisory committees, for over four years. Below are some of the high level committees he has served on.

  • Steering Committee for IT Modernization (Phase 2), the DoP's apex decision making body on expanding and upgrading IT infrastructure; since 2010.
  • Committee on Information Communication Technology on Rural Post Offices (CICTRPO), in 2009.
  • Expert Committee on IT Modernization Project ‘India Post 2012', in 2009.
  • Technical Committee for IT Initiatives, in 2007.

Prof. Shatrunjay has over 19 years of experience in data communication, computer networks technologies, and information security, with deep interest in Indian philosophy and human values.
