Times of India Speaks to IIIT-H's Dean (R&D) on ISEET

The Times of India, on June 4, 2012, carried out a full-length article featuring IIIT-H's Dean of Research Prof. PJ Narayanan's views on the Indian Science Engineering Entrance Test (ISEET). ISEET is the proposed common entrance test for engineering colleges in India, starting the academic year 2013. The article was put out on the first page of the Hyderabad edition of Times of India's education supplementary Education Times.

About Prof. PJ Narayanan (PJN)
Prof. PJN is a Professor and Dean of Research at the IIIT-H. He has been with the Research University since 2000.

With a bachelor's degree in CSE from IIT, Kharagpur and PhD in CSE from the University of Maryland, USA, Prof. PJN was a research faculty member at the Robotics Institute, Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), USA (1992 to 1996) and a scientist at the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR), Bengaluru (1997 to 2000).

His research interests include Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, and GPU Computing. Currently, Prof. PJN co-chairs the ACM India Council.

In 2008, Prof. PJN was made CUDA Faculty Fellow, in recognition of his early and innovative research on massively parallel computing using CUDA technology.

For India to become a technology superpower, tomorrow's IT professionals will need to be able to solve more and more unstructured problems rather than structured ones. At IIIT-H, we strive to enable this by a strong and sustained focus on research and innovation,” Prof. PJN, said in a press release after IIIT-H won World No.1 place at the international aerospace contest Cansat, in June 2010.
