

Sukrit Mittal is the Director of AI & Optimization Research at Franklin Templeton. He focuses on applying advanced AI—including Generative AI and Reinforcement Learning—alongside optimization techniques to build innovative financial products and solutions. He plays a key role in designing product variants, enhancing features, and tailoring offerings across distribution channels and geographies, drawing on his expertise in quantitative finance, data science, and product development.
He has close to eight years of research experience in optimization and machine learning, collaborating with leading researchers worldwide. Prior to his current role, he was invited as a visiting researcher at Michigan State University. His current work includes applying reinforcement learning to goals-based wealth management and exploring Generative AI to create digital twins for financial processes.
He holds a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering and a Doctorate in Optimization Algorithms from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, along with the Data Science for Investment Professionals Certificate from the CFA Institute, US. He has co-authored the book Machine Learning Assisted Evolutionary Multi and Many-objective Optimization, published in high-impact journals, and holds a granted patent.
