Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

After completion of this program successfully, the graduates will be able to:

PEO 1: Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to handle the real-world problems by transforming theoretical knowledge to practice

PEO 2: Demonstrate the requisite breadth and depth of knowledge in advanced areas of Civil Engineering to excel in research-centric industry and academic environments

PEO 3: Exhibit inter-personal skills required to function effectively in a varied, dynamic, and inter-disciplinary teams

PEO 4: Demonstrate the keenness for collaborative research and engagement with peers and lead innovation and development in major areas.

PEO 5: Practice ethics and human values in their profession.

 

Program Outcomes (POs) 

After completion of Master of Science in Civil Engineering, the Postgraduates will be able to

PO1: Engineering Knowledge: Use concepts from various disciplines in Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Earth Sciences, and Climate Sciences, to develop systems related to Civil Engineering

PO2: Design/Development of solutions: Identify and use the necessary Civil Engineering concepts to arrive at critical and creative ways to solve problems that is largely beneficial to society.

PO3: Modern tool usage: Demonstrate hands-on skills to work with various software packages used in Civil Engineering Industry, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern tools to model and predict complex engineering problems, with an understanding of the limitations of the tools

PO4: Project management: Apply the principles of project management in Civil Engineering, with focus on life cycle, scoping, costing, and development

PO5: Collaboration with Peers: Work efficiently in individual and team-oriented projects of varying size, recognize its positive influence in professional accomplishments, and actively engage in collaboration and teamwork to execute complex research and engineering tasks

PO6: Environment and sustainability: Develop sustainable technological solutions to Civil Engineering problems by considering the environmental impact 

PO7: Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics, responsibilities, and norms of the engineering practice

 

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)

PSO1: Exhibit broad basic knowledge in sub-areas of Civil Engineering such as Structural/Earthquake Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, and Climate Science

PSO2: Demonstrate research skills and research aptitude to identify problems in Civil Engineering using advanced techniques of Computer Science, to improve the State of the Art in Civil Engineering Research

PSO3: Exhibit critical thinking and creative abilities to formulate novel and relevant research problems in Civil Engineering, and provide meaningful and constructive solutions to them

PSO4: Apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the program towards national policy development in crucial areas of Civil Engineering, namely Structural Earthquake Engineering, Water quality management and impacts of climate change
