About Virtual Labs

Virtual Labs is a consortium project of the Ministry of Education, under the NMEICT Umbrella. This is a repository of virtual experiments that students can do anywhere anytime on any device, covering 13 domains of engineering and science and about 1700 experiments. This is a continuously growing repository and every year more experiments are added to it. Accordingly, the use of Virtua Lab experiments has grown rapidly. In the last two years, the cumulative total was about 7 crore Pageviews coming from about 1 crore Users. Virtual Labs is seen to be a continuously growing application, which makes it necessary to be continuously improved and made more usable. The Virtual Labs, IIIT Hyderabad is looking for highly motivated individuals to build the next generation of virtual experiments for education in college-level science and engineering. Virtual Labs Engineering and Architecture Division (VLEAD) is looking for competent professionals in the core technologies of Virtual Labs. You will be part of a talented team of engineers that demonstrates superb technical competency for ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, and security of the critical infrastructure. The engineering team at Virtual Labs is looking at innovative ways to automate and manage the infrastructure with high uptime requirements.

IIITH Virtual Labs Fellowship Program 2022

In this paid fellowship program, you will design, develop and enhance e-learning content and infrastructure. The e-learning content is developed using state-of-the-art open web technologies in the form of a static site. The content is deployed through an automated deployment process on an AWS-backed infrastructure using Object Storage, CDN, Load Balancers, and VMs.

Required Qualifications

• BTech/MTech in Computer Science or related discipline
• Understanding of computer science, systems and software design and development principles.
• Interest in research and development of educational technologies
• Strong programming skills in a variety of languages (imperative, OO, functional)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience and passion for the development of free software.

Selection Process

Candidates may submit a CV containing their portfolio of open projects on Git repositories. They will be shortlisted based on the evaluation of their work, Shortlisted candidates will be called for a technical interview.

Program Duration: 1 year
