RESEARCH HOME
The academic activity at
IIIT is woven around its research. The institute combines high-quality
Post-graduate programmes with vibrant undergraduate programmes. The institute is
organized as area-specific Research Centres. This provides tremendous synergy
and healthy cross-fertilization to the Institute’s research.
Research-led UG
curriculum
Our unique UG curriculum
is designed to foster research at a very early stage. The key enabling factors
for this are
1.
Subject taught early, breadth waits
2.
Emphasis on skills and project work
3.
Honours programme to specialize on an area
4.
Project credits in lieu of courses
5.
Dual-degree to jump deep into an area
6.
Large number of electives

High-quality Research
Programmes
The MS by Research and
PhD are our research programmes. The PhD is a conventional doctoral programme
with different stages including reputed coursework, the research background
requirement, breadth qualifiers, depth qualifiers, thesis proposal and defense.
The MS programme has minimal coursework and substantial thesis.
