The Activities are concentrated mainly on the following aspects:

  • Content Development
We use IT to enable teachers to provide quality Science Education to School Children. We build on Local Experience to enhance scientific understanding, using all the multimedia tools to build such Teaching/Learning modules.
    For details visit Content Development.

  • Virtual Laboratory Development
We strongly believe that better science understanding comes through experimentation. However laboratory facilities are non-existent in most schools today. In order to overcome this handicap, we are presently developing a Virtual Laboratory, where teachers and students could put together objects as in the real life laboratory and perform experiments.
For details visit Virtual Laboratory Development.

  • Authoring Tool Development
In order to involve a large number of teachers in Resource development, we have been exploring the possibility of finding an Open Source authoring tool, which combines the capabilities of high level proprietary applications with ease in learning and use. We have been successful in identifying one such authoring tool using which uninitiated teachers have been able to develop content quickly.
For details visit Authoring Tool Development.

  • Resource Database Development
Along with content development we are developing a resource library for teachers, of multimedia elements and lesson scripts developed, which can be easily browsed and retrieved as and when required.
    For details visit Digital Library.

  • Teacher Training Workshops
Science teachers from different schools are invited to attend workshops on Content Development, thereby enabling them to directly participate and contribute to developing multimedia content for teaching. During the workshop, they are trained in aspects of Content Development such as script writing, and in the use of the authoring tool, SQUEAK. The duration of each workshop is six days. So far, we have successfully organized eleven workshops imparting the necessary skills to teachers for developing content.
