Earthquake Engineering (EERC) Visit Center's Homepage

We have witnessed several earthquakes in the last two decades causing enormous damage to life and property. One main reason for casualities is collapse of buildings. The EERC at IIIT-H was established to address these issues.

Vision To become a centre of excellence in research on Earthquake Engineering and related areas. We aim to give solutions for disaster management in general and for construction of safe building infrastructure in particular.

Major Areas of Focus

  • Seismotectonic modeling of Indian plate
  • Fault motion analysis & wave propogation
  • Nonlinear analysis of structures
  • Seismic evaluation of heritage structures
  • Sustainable construction technologies
  • Earthquake awareness and preparedness
  • Post earthquake studies

In addition, EERC strives for capacity building among existing personnel in government and private organisations. This is done through short-term courses for practising engineers, students, faculty members on regular basis.
