Computational Natural Sciences and Bioinformatics (CCNSB)

Ever increasing computational power and recent advances in computer science, in felds of distributed computing, networking, and database management, have inspired the center to explore the application of these newer technologies and methods to understand the functioning of complex physical, chemical and biological systems.
Apart from projects dealing with development of algorithms and specalized databases, the center is currently pursuing several computationally intensive projects.

Bioinformatics

  • Pattern recognition in biological sequences, viz., identifying repeats, GIs, etc., Comparative Genomics, Data Mining
  • Developing specialized databases and tools
  • Computer aided drug design
  • Metabolomics Research which includes dynamical Systems modeling of biological Systems
  • Graph Spectral Approach for Identifying Domains, and analyzing metabolic pathways

Structural Bioinformatics

  • DNA and RNA Architectures
  • Nucleic acid - Protein complexes
  • Molecular dynamics, Molecular docking and Molecular recognition in proteins and RNA using QM and MM

Molecular Structure and Dynamics

  • Optical control of molecular dynamics – Noise enhanced responses
  • Interaction energies and excitation energy transfer in nano-bio systems
  • Ab initio QM calculations – Noncovalent interactions – Thermodynamic energies and properties
